Embark on an immersive journey through Rajasthan’s rich folklore, uncovering its heritage through exploratory learning and puzzle-solving quests.
An Open-world VR narrative game, where players step into the role of Roop, embarking on a journey inspired by the oral epic of Pābūjī. As Roop, players explore a vast virtual Rajasthan, solving puzzles and uncovering hidden fragments of the paṛ painting to restore its lost story.
Roop ro Rajasthan began as an exploration into how immersive technology can support cultural preservation. The project involves extensive research into the paṛ tradition, narrative design rooted in folk storytelling, and the creation of a stylized VR environment inspired by Rajasthani architecture and landscapes. The development process includes concept art, prototyping in VR, character and environment design, and iterative testing to ensure intuitive interaction. Each element has been crafted to bridge folklore and technology in a way that feels both respectful and imaginative.

Map creation was a key challenge in this project, requiring few iterations to align with the intended vision. For the issue, we also consulted an architect friend to ensure accurate scale and proportions for elements like huts, stairs, and the village layout.
Applied and tested different UV unwrapping techniques as part of asset development workflow
Created Nonlinear Animation (NLA) sequences driven by shape keys for morphing sling of weapon
Animated a clay pot shattering sequence by rigging with parented empty bone groups
Created low-poly assets in Blender with image textures and optimized topology
Created procedural desert terrain using Houdini heightfields
